Our fourth family is the Schwab family from Hartland.
A little bit about the Schwab Family:
The Schwab family, Matt and Becky, and their three children, Ally (7), Warren (5), and Moses (1), have been living in the Hartland-Pewaukee area for a year and a half. They moved from the Chicago suburbs, as Becky is originally from Wisconsin and wanted to be closer to her extended family. Matt still works in Chicago, but has the ability to work remotely from home the majority of the time.
Becky describes their family as a “sporty” family. They love summer and taking family bike rides. One of their favorite things to do is ride their bikes to area parks, usually Nixon Park, and they even bike out to eat for pizza at Endters in Hartland. Another favorite pastime of theirs is playing baseball in backyard or basketball in driveway. When forced to pick a favorite park, Becky reported that they really enjoy Imagination Station in Oconomowoc.
Because they are still relatively new to the area, when they get the opportunity, Matt and Becky like to try fun new restaurants on date nights. They enjoy Beer Snobs in Hartland and are looking to try out I.D. in Delafield. They also play kickball through Hartland area atheletic association to enjoy some adult time with friends. When they have out-of-town visitors, their go-to is the Picnic Basket in Nashotah for take out. If they are looking to take out of town family out for dinner, Becky recommends Fox and Hounds in Hubertus. Becky is looking to take guests to downtown Pewaukee the next time she has a chance, to check out Artisan 179. She loves the area on the lakefront there, frequenting The Chocolate Factory for lunches and for birthday platters. When out as a family, her kids enjoy the Crafty Cow’s skeeball game, pizza at the Delafield Brewhaus, and the game room at the Mineshaft in Hartford.
What they love about Lake Country Family Fun:
Becky has been following Lake Country Family Fun for the past two years. In looking for a place to move, she fell in love with the Lake Country area, and a friend recommended the site to her. The site really helped Becky get to know the area prior to moving and as a stay-at-home mom upon moving here. Becky follows and references the calendar, local park guide, sledding hill guide, and the weekend guide. She is so glad that this resource exists as well as the fun event, Hartland Kids Day.
A fun fact about the Schwab Family:
The Schwab family is a “sporty” family as self-described above, but when it comes to college and professional sports, they are a house divided. Matt is a Lions and MI State fan, while Becky cheers on the Green Bay Packer and the Badgers. Since moving up here to Lake Country, they have had the opportunity to attend more UW-Madison sporting events, such as a recent women’s volleyball game. It’s a light-hearted rivalry in the family that they enjoy joking about, but who do the kids cheer for?? Whoever is winning of course 😉
Favorite Movie to watch together as a Family:
Matt and Becky have been introducing their kids to old movies that they like, such as The Goonies. Becky reported that the kids were a little scared at first, but then they wanted to watch it again. They also have fun watching Alexander and the Horrible No Good Very Bad Day and The Sandlot, which the kids really enjoyed.
