April in Lake Country and Waukesha County, Wisconsin can be a bit unpredictable. One day might feel like spring has finally arrived, and the next might bring snow, rain, or chilly winds. Many local events even advertise themselves as happening “rain, snow, sleet, or shine.” But if there’s one thing we know about Wisconsinites, it’s that we get outside and enjoy the season anyway.

Just to prove how unpredictable April can be: April 10 was 64° in 2010, 46° in 2016, and 73° in 2017… so your guess is as good as ours for what this year will bring! No matter the forecast, there are always fun family-friendly things to do in April across Lake Country communities like Oconomowoc, Delafield, Hartland, Pewaukee, and Waukesha.

April is packed with seasonal celebrations and events, too. Families may celebrate Easter, Earth Day, Arbor Day, and National Siblings Day, and many schools have spring break or extra days off this month. It’s also Autism Awareness Month, making it a meaningful time for community events and activities. From outdoor adventures when the sun appears to indoor play options when the weather turns, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the season together.

Below you’ll find 10 family-friendly things to do in April in Lake Country and Waukesha County, curated by Lake Country Family Fun to help you plan local adventures with your kids all month long.
