West Allis Farmers Market
May 12, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 12:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday, repeating until November 19, 2020
The West Allis Farmers Market is pleased to announce that it will open on May 9, 2020, for its 101st season. Farmers Markets are considered essential businesses under Governor Evers’ Safer at Home Order, and they are delaying their start date by one week to prepare the market for the safety of vendors and customers. The market will operate as an open-air, in-person shoppers market per usual, with extra precautions to ensure everyone’s safety while the coronavirus challenges us.
The Farmers Market Committee and members of the West Allis Health Department are working to finalize what additional measures will be in place to support physical distancing and to ensure the safety of the vendors and the customers. They will share the guidelines for the 2020 season as soon as they are available. Updates HERE.
We are working closely with West Allis Health Department and within guidelines from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to ensure the safety of vendors and guests at the 2020 West Allis Farmers Market.
– The Market will be open regular hours,
Tuesdays/Thursdays from noon – 6 p.m., and
Saturdays 1 – 6 p.m. beginning on Saturday, May 9.
– The Market will be open from 11 a.m. – noon on
Tuesdays and Thursdays exclusively for seniors and other vulnerable shoppers, so they may shop in a less crowded atmosphere.
We consider seniors to be age 55+, but anyone with pre-existing health conditions and pregnant women are also welcome to shop the early hours for their safety and convenience.
– Customers are only permitted to enter the market on 65th street. Therefore, customers will be moving in the same direction down each aisle, not alternating directions.

The West Allis Farmers Market will be open through the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Saturday hours are 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The West Allis Farmers Market is also open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 6:00 pm. It is open later in the day to allow the farmers to bring only the freshest produce, picked that morning, to the market. Farmers may leave earlier if all produce has been sold.
A wide range of produce arrives at the market throughout the year. The early season brings bedding plants, radishes, asparagus, and rhubarb. Strawberries and raspberries arrive in June as well as zucchini, squash, peas, snap beans. Corn arrives about a week after July 4 along with many other squashes and herb plants. The late season brings fresh apples and cider. Chickens and fresh eggs are always available. If you can’t pick it yourself, the West Allis Farmers Market is your best bet.
Dogs are not allowed at the market.
