Christmas in Okauchee

Many local families were saddened at the announcement of the cancellation of the popular German Christmas Market. However, the spirit of the event is coming on the same weekend, in a different location!

The Okauchee Lion’s Park will be the site of a German Christmas Market and holiday festival this Thanksgiving weekend.
“Christmas in Okauchee” is planned for November 25 through 29.

The event production is a collaboration between Hans Weissgerber III of HB Milwaukee, Lisa Marks of Weissgerber Restaurants and Andrew Kranick of Easy Chalet NA.  The trio of Lake Country natives began exploring the idea of hosting an event in Okauchee after the cancellation of the German Christmas Market of Oconomowoc was announced in April.

Weissgerber and Marks have been the principal food and beverage vendor partners in the Oconomowoc market since its beginning. Kranick has been the event logistical coordinator and expeditor for HB Milwaukee and is the importer of the German festival table and benches used at the market.  Kranick began importing authentic chalets like those used in the Christmas Markets across Europe to serve the growing trend of holiday markets here in the USA.  “Fellow vendors started reaching out to see if we were planning anything, most festivals had been cancelled. Our businesses and our employees depend on these annual events for their income. We started thinking about where we could host a well-executed event in the Lake Country and the Okauchee Lion’s Park became the logical choice.”, said Hans Weissgerber III.” Lisa Marks added, “We fully intend to return to the Oconomowoc event for 2021 and strongly believe that Christmas in Okauchee will help guarantee the continuation of this Thanksgiving weekend tradition.”

Christmas in Okauchee will feature 24 specialty retail vendors split into North and South outdoor market areas featuring the authentic European market chalets. The Bertrand Family Pavilion with its multiple glass garage doors and infrared heating system will provide covered seating, food, beverage, and musical entertainment.  The event will utilize the Okauchee Lions Park to create a festive indoor/outdoor holiday event.
