I’ve lived in Menomonee Falls since 2017. It’s home to beautiful parks, family friendly dining, and an impressive array of special events plus Rec Center and Library programming. Learn more about the area HERE.
Here are 8 reasons to love Menomonee Falls
1. Special Events
Like most Wisconsin communities, the city comes to life in the summer with dozens of events, farmers markets, concerts in the park and beer gardens. Not to worry, we sprinkle in some fun from Fall through Spring too. Here are a few notable events to check out year round.
Lavender Days and Festival
Falls Family Movie Night in the Park
Sunset Concert Series (Thursdays)
The Depot Beer Garden (Fridays) or Village Park Beer Garden (Wednesdays)
Christmas Markets
Winter Craft Market (at the Menomonee Falls High School)
National Night Out
Farmer’s Market (Wednesdays and Sundays)
City wide Easter Egg Hunt
2. Family Friendly Dining
All in all, Menomonee Falls is an easy going city so naturally it offers laid back eateries perfect for families. Some go to restaurants include: Hot House Tavern (not just pub food), Allie’s Bistro, Evie’s Vietnamese Kitchen, Pizza Crafters, Chen’s Chinese, The Schwabenhof, and AJ O’Brady’s. Grab our favorite custard at the family owned Pop’s Custard.
If you like beer and wine, check out Three Cellars tasting room and store. They welcome carry-in food and are in the same area as Allie’s Bistro. Only ages 21+ after 6pm.
If you’re in need of a caffeine boost or a casual bite, check out Fiddleheads Coffeehouse. They offer small batch coffee and mouth watering pastries. They are adjacent to Village Park which has the massive all-abilities playground and events all summer.
3. Shopping
A number of small businesses thrive in downtown Menomonee Falls. Looking for a gift or just some good ‘ol retail therapy, head to: Bank of Flowers, Olive Branch Boutique, Robin’s Nest, Chocolate Falls, Poppy & Thyme (Visit the Wishing Pig!), and Rustic Rehabs (kid friendly activity table).
4. Art and More Shopping
For the best handicraft and art shopping check out Stanford Art Glass Studio, Rustic Rehabs, and Art Lounge (an art cafe).
Kids will love painting their own pottery at Just Kiln’ Time.
A special event to highlight is the Art Walk (historically held in June) for walking mural tours, specials at local businesses, musicians, make your own art activities, and Artists’ booths.
5. Natural Areas
Downtown, you can stroll the beautiful Lime Kiln park along the Menomonee river and namesake waterfall and if you’re adventurous, pull on some rain boots and traverse part of the river to discover a beautiful section of bluffs.
About 10 minutes from downtown you can find loads of outdoor activities at Menomonee Park (a Waukesha County Park). Here they offer kayaking, archery, a sledding hill, camping (family & group), hiking, fishing, cycling, swimming, volleyball, rental shelters, and a sprawling playground and picnic area.
If you have a dog, this is the ultimate park for you. They offer several off-leash exercise areas and a designated dog swimming area.
6. Fitness and Play
Climb, spin, slide, and play pretend at our new (Fall 2022) accessible playground in Village Park. (See below for more pictures and a Reel.) This park pairs perfectly with any of the events hosted in the same park or a round of tennis or pickleball.
In addition to the Natural Areas mentioned above, the Bugline multi-use trail runs right through Menomonee falls. It’s fantastic for cyclists or a family ride.
The Wisconsin Athletic Club location here has both an indoor AND outdoor pool. With little kids, we love the Toddler Splashpad area.

7. The Public Library
On a weekly basis, the Menomonee Falls Public Library hosts programming for all ages, 0-99. From toddler storytime, to Adult classes, to a well stocked Maker Space called The Forge, this library does a stellar job of serving our community!
Twice a year they host a donation based Book Sale too, which has stocked more than 90% of my bookshelves at home.
Psst: Their playground is a well kept secret. We’ve never found it crowded.
8. Career Opportunities
Right here in the Falls, you’ll find headquarter offices of corporate giants like Kohl’s, Alto-Shaam, Wacker Neuson, Glenroy, and Enerpac Tool Group.
There are plenty of career opportunities to work where you live! In fact, my husband took a job at Kohl’s HQ shortly after we moved here.
Come on up to Menomonee Falls and explore as a family!
