There is a new immersive exhibit at the Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee. Milwaukee is no stranger to an immersive experience. Maybe you visited the Beyond Van Gogh exhibit, when it was in the city. Well, head back, because the National Geographic’s Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience is open from now through January 6, 2024, and it is amazing. We are no strangers to visiting Milwaukee with Kids and are enjoying this partnership with National Geographic’s Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience and the Baird Center to bring more family fun experiences to families in Lake Country and Waukesha County.
In celebration of the 101st anniversary of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb, National Geographic’s Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience is offering free admission to 6th grade students who come with a full paid adult. For each 6th grader to receive free admission, there must be a full price paid adult accompanying them.

👑 Interactive way to learn about King Tut, the boy King, who started ruling at age 9.
How cool to share with your kiddos that King Tut was only 9 year old when he became king and ruled for 10 years. Could they imagine being the king of Egypt at such a young age?
👑 The whole exhibit is interactive, hands-on learning, which is ideal for kids.
The exhibit is laid out to tell the story of King Tut, the discovery of this tomb, his rule as king, and the ancient Egyptian’s beliefs on the afterlife, chronicling his journey to the afterlife. Throughout these vignettes, there are interactive features and kids can touch and watch and listen, taking it all in through various senses. *The creators do kindly ask that attendees refrain from touching the screens during the exhibit.
👑 Families can play Senet, one of King Tut’s favorite games.
In the 6th gallery, find one of King Tut’s favorite games, Senet. He was a 9 year old boy after all! The directions are simple and laid out for families to play a round of Senet before moving on to the next gallery.
What Else to Know about National Geographic's
Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience
▶️ Tickets come with a timed start.
▶️ Your family can stay as long as you want, but the entire experience through the galleries should take about an hour to complete.
▶️ There’s a brief movie to start the experience to set the tone and background information on King Tut.
▶️ The Beyond King Tut immersion experience is different than others or previous immersion experiences as it follows a chronological story of King Tut and the discovery of his tomb 100 years ago.
▶️ The photography content provided for the show is from the National Geographic Archives. It is all the true story and real facts vetted by National Geographic.
▶️ There is a replica of King Tut ‘s corpse, so be prepared.
▶️ There’s a virtual reality adventure (for an additional fee) after the gift shop to add to the overall experience of King Tut and the amazing discovery of his tomb. I partook, and know my kids would enjoy it.
