Seeing Black Holes at the UWM Manfred Olson Planetarium
Join the Manfred Olson Planetarium as UWM’s new Professor, Dr. Lia Medeiros, discusses how telescopes all over the world came together to take the first ever image of a black hole and how she used this image to test Einstein’s theory of gravity. She will also discuss how she used her new machine learning algorithm to make the highest resolution image of a black hole to date.
This event is free and open to the public. You must register to attend. Not recommended for children under 4. Light refreshments will be served.
The event will be held in room 110 of the new Chemistry building on the campus of UW-Milwaukee. Doors will open at 6:30 PM, with the presentation to start at 7:00 PM. There will be complimentary appetizers and a bar with drinks for purchase in the lobby.
