Waukesha 4th of July Parade
July 4, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pmFree
Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department presents the 2020 Independence Day Activities, including the Waukesha 4th of July parade.
Please note the changes made to the 2020 festivities:
The City of Waukesha has made the difficult decision to make changes to our annual 4th of July Celebrations. For this year’s 4th of July celebration, the City will hold a reverse parade. Parade units will be stationed along a predefined route. Those attending the parade will remain in their vehicles and drive the route. Everyone will be encouraged to decorate their vehicles. This reverse parade will allow for public participation while maintaining social distancing. More details will be coming.
The City will not be holding the annual Fireworks display. Various alternatives were explored. However, due to a variety of logistical issues including the need to maintain social distancing and the amount of traffic expected it was determined to not be feasible to hold the fireworks.
We are all disappointed and look forward to resuming our full festivities in 2021.
The Waukesha 4th of July Parade takes place on Wednesday, July 4th, and this year’s theme is “Bold Stripes-Bright Stars-Brave Hearts”. The parade line-up will take place in the area of Cutler Park, 321 Wisconsin Avenue, with the following schedule. (Community organizations, families, and businesses are encouraged to enter a float into the parade.) 10 a.m. – Line-Up in the area of Cutler Park 11 a.m. – Parade begins Keep your eye on the sky for a flyover by the Trojan Thunder Formation Demo Team Children will have an opportunity to participate in the parade by decorating their bikes, trikes, buggies, wagons, and themselves! Groups and families are encouraged to enter floats in the parade that reflect the theme “Bold Stripes-Bright Stars-Brave Hearts” and meet the minimum standards. No application for the Children’s Unit is required. PLEASE NOTE: NO MOTORIZED ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED. Please note: City Ordinance 11.22 (i.) & (j.) prohibit dogs in the park.
