A Candle Lit Night at the Museum: The Spiritualism Craze of the 1800s & Uranium Glass Hunt
Presentations: 6:00-7:30 pm (Admission see below – Doors open at 5:30pm)

Entrance in the Front Porch doorGiven that thousands were killed during the witch trials of the 1600 & 1700s for any hint of clairvoyancy, what caused the rise of the Spiritualism in America in the 1800s? How did teen sisters start this movement that still goes on today? What services and devices were used and were they legit or hoax? Who was the notable Mukwonago clairvoyant people from all over SE Wisconsin lined up to see in the early 1900s? Who held seances in the Red Brick Museum? Where is the Spiritualism cult that she frequently traveled to? What other places in Mukwonago have a history of other worldly phenomenon – real or hoax?
Step into candle lit ambience to find this out and much more from your friendly Mukwonago Historical Society docents joined by special guest author Rod Vick who will also have copies of his book “Haunted Mukwonago” for sale & signing from 7:45-9:00pm. Five 15-minute presentations will leave you marveling at this unusual period in Mukwonago and our nation’s history. 3 presentations are standing, 2 will have seating with a few chairs in all rooms. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
URANIUM GLASS HUNT – 7:45-9:00pm: There will be pieces of glowy, showy Uranium Glass spread throughout the first floor of the museum for our guests to hunt out with black light flashlights (for sale $5). Bring your kids to see if they can find all pieces!!!
