There will be a number of Memorial Day Observances in Waukesha in 2026. The Waukesha Allied Veterans Council will host the Memorial Day observances on Monday, May 25 to include:
The Waukesha Allied Veterans Council invites you to the Memorial Day commemoration to honor our fallen servicemen and women.
Memorial Day Observances in Waukesha
- Avenue of Flags (8am-2pm) – Prairie Home Cemetery
- Prairie Home Cemetery will be placing flags along the main road through the cemetery to commemorate those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Flags will be flying between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The cemetery grounds are also open to visitors at this time.

- Riverside Ceremony (9am) – Barstow Plaza near 141 NW Barstow St.
- A river ceremony will take place at Lee Sherman Dreyfus State Office Building (141 NW Barstow Street) at 9:00 a.m. The City of Waukesha invites everyone to assemble and toss flowers into the river as a mark of respect for those who gave their lives. Please note that if you would like to partake in casting flowers into the river, you will need to bring your own live flowers (no plastic flowers).
- Memorial Day March (10am) – Downtown Waukesha
- The parade will begin on Barstow Street at the Lee Sherman Dreyfus State Office Building (141 NW Barstow Street), proceed down Main Street, turn onto Maple Avenue and end at Wisconsin Avenue.
If you would like to participate in the march, please fill out the March Participation Application and return it to Chuck Esser at 321 Tenny Avenue, Waukesha, WI or via email at 1950esser@gmail.com.
