Lake Country Family Fun received Oriental Trading product samples in exchange for our honest review.
Happy Thanksgiving week, Lake Country! I am so excited to share this post with you about baby shower style and announce that in January I will become an Aunt for the very first time! This is incredibly special to me for a few reasons.
1. Dane (my son) will get to have a cousin SO close in age. Growing up and still to this day, my cousins are some of my best friends on the planet. Therefore, I can’t wait for him to have that same relationship with his cousin!
2. It’s a girl! I’ve had so much fun buying cute boy clothes and toys, but I am SO excited to spoil the little princess with all the adorable items that are out there.
3. She is due in January, which is also my birth month – so I know we’ll have a special bond.
A few weekends ago, my aunt, mother-in-law and I threw a baby shower for the beautiful mom-to-be, and it was a fun day filled with a lot of love. I really enjoy entertaining and decorating for parties so this was right up my alley. We combined some really cool items from Oriental Trading with stuffed animals and books that my mother-in-law already had (she is a recently retired first grade teacher, so books are plentiful in our household!)
I was really impressed by the variety of items I found at Oriental Trading. They have a ton of pre-assigned shower ideas and categories for boys and girls AND all kinds of party kits. I came up with a color scheme and found everything from paper ware to paper lanterns to deck the house out. We didn’t want it to be a complete explosion of pink, so we incorporated some burlap and other pretty pastels to break it up. What do you think?
A quick roundup of what we used from Oriental Trading:
- Light Pink Cups – we used these for drinks
- Pennant Banner – we hung this in the sun room where we opened gifts – I love how delicate and classy it is
- Hanging Fans – these were perfect on the walls, in the doorways and could certainly be used again for various things
- Napkins, Drink Napkins – How cute are these? The faux burlap and lace were gorgeous in person too
- Plates
- Table Cloth & Burlap – I was really impressed by how much burlap was included in the roll. We had plenty left over to use for other crafts later on down the line!
- Garland – I think the pictures speak for themselves. This was great, and sturdy. I’ve run into issues with products like this in the past being kind of flimsy and easily breakable – but these were the opposite. We loved them!
- Snack Bowls – these are super versatile, and we ended up just having them out for people to grab a snack. I made homemade Chex mix (get my recipe here) for the occasion and these chevron bowls were the perfect vessel!
I am anxiously awaiting the little one’s arrival. The holidays this year will be even more special knowing our family is growing – what a blessing it is! I hope that you all have a great holiday weekend and enjoy the time with family, giving thanks and focusing on what’s important in life. Happy Thanksgiving!
