Margie’s Garden Ribbon Cutting Details

WHEN: Friday, July 8, 12:30pm
WHERE: Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Dr, Hales Corners, WI 53130
WHAT: Margie’s Garden is a new 3-acre garden designed with kids in mind. The flower-themed garden includes an “enchanted village” with a playhouse, fiddlehead path, twig hut and mushroom chair rings; a sound garden, a secret garden, a bug garden with friendly bug sculptures; a storybook nook, a pollinator garden, sunflower garden, and prairie & wildflower zones.
The garden’s namesake is Margaret “Margie” Kezman, who passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer in May 2019. Many of the ideas in the garden were inspired by Margie Kezman and her love of flowers and children. Forever motivated by how she lived her life, how she cared for others, and how she enjoyed her gardens, Margie’s family now honors her memory by gifting Margie’s Garden to the Milwaukee County community. In 2021 the Kezman family organized Margie’s Smile, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3), to work wholeheartedly with Milwaukee County to establish and maintain a place for children and their families to play, learn, and experience nature.
