Meet the 2021 Keynote Speaker, Tina Lawtown!
Tina has always loved math and science, which is why she decided to pursue a degree in chemical engineering (B.A.Sc. in Chem. Eng. from University of Toronto 1993). Business was another interest, so Tina spent 5 years earning her MBA degree (2001 from Heriot-Watt University) while working full-time. Tina has worked in the paper industry for much of her career, in a wide variety of roles in manufacturing, engineering, product development, continuous improvement, and sales. Her passion has always been with the more technical roles and helping customers by providing value-added solutions. She is currently an Applications Engineer with Valmet, a large global developer and supplier of technologies, automation, systems, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries. In 2017 and 2018 Tina took a break from her paper industry career to start up a fitness software tech company (Gymlete) with her husband. She is CEO of Gymlete, Inc., handling the business side of running the company while her husband develops and markets the software. Tina has been married for 28 years and has a 17 year old daughter (who plans to study astrophysics) and several pets (dog, cat, lizards, snake). Outside of work, she loves to travel, enjoys the outdoors, and does CrossFit workouts to stay in shape and destress.
