Gift of Wings hosts the IKEA Frank Mots International Kite Festival, a beloved Milwaukee lakefront tradition celebrating 47 years at Veterans Park. The Frank Mots Kite Festival Milwaukee is the place to be!
Come watch hundreds of colorful kites take to the sky during the spectacular Grand Launch at noon each day. The festival is free to attend, with free parking available.
Gift of Wings will also have kites and food available for purchase throughout the weekend.
Before You Go
- The Grand Launch is at noon both Saturday and Sunday.
- The festival runs 10 AM–6 PM Saturday and 10 AM–5 PM Sunday.
- Admission is free, and free parking is available.
- Bring the family and enjoy professional kite demonstrations, giant kites, and plenty of kite-flying fun along Milwaukee’s lakefront.
Frank Mots Kite Festival Schedule of Events
On Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, Gift of Wings hosts the IKEA Frank Mots International Kite Festival at Veterans Park, a Milwaukee County park along Milwaukee’s lakefront.
The festival runs from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and 10 AM to 5 PM on Sunday, with the spectacular Grand Launch of more than 600 kites at noon each day.
The IKEA Frank Mots International Kite Festival is FREE to attend, with free parking available.
Frank Mots Kite Festival Performers
The 2026 festival lineup includes:
- Too Much Fun, a world-renowned precision kite flying team from California, returning to perform four times daily
- Chicago Fire Kite Team, celebrating its 38th consecutive year at the festival
- Kurtis Jones & the Wind Wolves Kite Team, with Dan Jones, making their fourth appearance with giant Super Giant Whale kites, a 120-foot Trilobite kite, and new IKEA Giant Kites
- Connor Doran from America’s Got Talent, returning to the festival
- James Almas from Vancouver, who will attempt to fly four kites simultaneously while doing tricks
- Jim Cosca, offering free kite-flying lessons
- Flaming Emus, performing with their four-line kites
Special Kids Activity
The first 100 kids to participate in the Window Nation “Kids Mad Dash” will receive a free kite courtesy of Gift of Wings and Window Nation. Watch as 100 colorful kites launch into the sky at the same time!
