Calling young astronomy and art enthusiasts! Kids ages 5–14 can explore the universe at the Horwitz-DeRemer Planetarium before creating their own colorful telescope painting in this fun after-school art and astronomy event.

Art and astronomy come together at Art Among the Stars: Scoping Out the Universe at the Horwitz-DeRemer Planetarium in Waukesha!
Designed for children ages 5–14, this fun after-school event combines a planetarium show with a hands-on painting experience. Young astronomers and artists will explore the science and history of telescopes before creating their own telescope-inspired masterpiece.
The experience begins with the planetarium show Two Small Pieces of Glass, an engaging journey into the history and science of telescopes and how they help us explore the universe.
After the show, local artist Jenny Carter will guide young artists through a step-by-step painting experience. All painting supplies are provided, so kids can simply bring their creativity and curiosity for an afternoon of astronomy, science, and art!
