Certified Zentangle instructor Dian Ericksen will lead a demonstration on Zentangle, a mindful art activity that helps relieve anxiety and stress. The cost of the class is $1.00, payable at the event, which covers the cost of 2 tiles: one to work on at the bookstore, one to take home. She will provide pens. This event is for ages 8 years old and up.

The event itself is free but registration is required at www.zentangle.brownpapertickets.com and there is a $1.00 supply fee due at the time of the event.

Mrs. Ericksen had her first experience with Zentangle as a decorative art. She was interested in pursuing the practice as more of a mindful activity. She attended a founder’s seminar in Providence, Rhode Island in 2015. She said, “I found the seminar experience deeply moving as the founders took you on a creative journey to a place of peace and empowerment.” Dian is now a certified Zentangle teacher and wishes to share this art form as a process which helps to “shift our state of mind towards relaxation, focus, and inspiration. My intention is to convey to the children the process of relaxation because the art is non-representational, the process of focus because the tangles are definite structured patterns and the process of inspiration because there are no mistakes.”
