The Blacksmith Day (also known as the Blacksmith Day Hammer-In) is an annual fall event hosted by the Richfield Historical Society to showcase traditional 19th-century metalworking skills. For 2026, the event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas.
Event Features & Activities
- Blacksmithing Demonstrations: Over two dozen local blacksmiths gather at the park’s recreated turn-of-the-century Blacksmith Shop and surrounding areas to demonstrate forging, welding, and heat-treating.
- Pioneer Life Exhibits: Beyond the forge, visitors can explore the Pioneer Village for activities like cooking over an open fire, popping corn, and making yarn dolls.
- Handcrafted Sales: Blacksmiths and local artisans offer handcrafted iron items and other unique gifts for sale.
- Food & Drink: Offerings usually include chili, hot dogs, hot chocolate.

- Purpose: Proceeds from food sales and donations support the maintenance of the park and the Richfield Historical Society’s educational missions.
