9/11 Remembrance – 25th Anniversary

Several organizations are collaborating to enhance Oconomowoc’s traditional 9/11 Remembrance in honor of the 25th anniversary of the attacks. The public is invited to attend the event Friday, September 11 downtown. The event will take place at Village Green Park downtown, 104 East Wisconsin Avenue, Oconomowoc.

The morning will begin with a welcome, invocation and remarks by Mayor Matt Rosek. The Oconomowoc High School Choir will sing the “National Anthem” followed by a description of the first attack by City of Oconomowoc Police Lt. Ryan Wollenhaupt.

The annual remembrance always includes the playing of “Taps” by several buglers around the event area and Fowler Lake. “Taps” is played at each of the four attacks, the first being 7:46 a.m.

Speakers including first responders, military personnel and citizens will continue with readings in between each playing of “Taps.” Below is the complete schedule for the morning’s remembrance.
