Nature Navigator: A Girl Scout Adventure

Do you know how to find your way using only a map and compass? In Nature Navigator, Girl Scouts will explore the essential skills and tools used to navigate the great outdoors — from reading the landscape to plotting a precise course.
Girls will start with the basics: cardinal directions, reading trail signs, and interpreting topographical maps to understand the terrain before they even set foot on the trail. Next, they’ll master compass skills — learning the parts of a compass, adjusting for declination, and using bearings and triangulation to pinpoint their location on a map.
To put it all together, girls will have the chance to test their new skills on the trails at Lapham Peak!
Whether you’re hitting the trails or exploring your local park, Nature Navigator will give you the confidence and skills to find your way anywhere.
The program is $5 per girl.
Note: This is a Girl Scouts only program. A Wisconsin State Park pass is required. Girls must be accompanied by a troop leader or other responsible adult and the troop must maintain the adult/girl ratio required by the Girl Scouts organization. Troop leaders are FREE.
