Wisconsin Sales Tax Holiday

It’s almost back to school time!  So many supplies to buy and organize, teachers to meet and schedules to figure out!  Back to school time is also a great time to go through our kids clothes and donate/sell those things that don’t fit anymore and purchase some new clothes and shoes along with school supplies.

The state has issued a TAX HOLIDAY in August to alleviate some cost (at least the tax) on parents.  See the details below!

When does your kiddos school start? Tell us in the comments!

Sales of the following are exempt from Wisconsin sales and use tax from Wednesday, August 1 through Sunday, August 5th, 2018:

  • Clothing – $75 or less per item
  • School supplies – $75 or less per item
  • Computers for personal use – $750 or less per computer
  • School computer supplies for personal use – $250 or less per item

Wisconsin’s Sales Tax Holiday information is available on the department’s website at https://www.revenue.gov/Pages/Individuals/SalesTaxHoliday.aspx.

The Wisconsin tax rate is 5% with local rates adding up to .6% more.  So, for example, if you buy clothes, a computer and supplies totally over $1,000 then you could save over $50!!!

Happy Shopping!
