Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County is hosting their 4th Annual Women Build project this year. From May 7-12, 2018 women from across Waukesha County are coming together to build homes along White Rock Avenue in Waukesha. The homes will be constructed primarily by women and will provide female-friendly worksite that empowers women to take leadership roles and learn new skills while building homes, community and hope.
Space is limited, don’t wait to sign up!
How does someone get involved?
You can sign up to volunteer by registering here.
What are the volunteer requirements?
Volunteers are asked to arrive by 8:50 am and the day will conclude by 4:30 pm. No skills or experience is needed to participate! THe dedicated crew leaders will teach and work with you every step of the way and Habitat provides all tools and safety equipment. The cost is $150 per person and $725 for a team of five. Individuals and teams are encouraged to fundraise on their own to increase the donation amount, similar to a run/walk event.
Who are the families you are helping?
One of the homes is for a single mom of three children ages 5-14 years old. She owns her own business in Waukesha and will be building her house alongside volunteers during Women Build.
We have not assigned a family yet for the other home, although they have several potentials. As an aside, they are going to be starting nine new projects this year so they are looking for homeowners! If you know anyone who might be interested in applying to become a Habitat homeowner, please refer them!
If someone is unable to physically perform building tasks, are there other ways to help?
Yes! They could help with setting up and cleaning up registration, lunch, and the construction site in general (putting away tools, etc). They could make a donation to support Habitat’s programs. There are also other ways to support Habitat, such as volunteering at or shopping in or donating to the ReStore.
