Per the press release:
The festival will feature live snow sculpting and ice carving by more than 10 professional artists, plus fun activities, retail and dining specials and more.
The Wisconsin State Ice Carving Competition will kick off at noon on Friday, January 11, with each artist carving works of art from two 20” by 40” blocks of ice using only hand tools. Sculptures will range from wildlife and human forms to abstract designs. Carving will continue throughout the weekend, with an
award ceremony at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13. Awards will be given in three categories, and attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice and Social Media awards. Once complete, the ice sculptures will be lit with LED lighting and available for viewing throughout the winter while weather permits.
In addition to the ice carving competition, a 12-foot high, 6,000-pound snow sculpture will be installed in Market Square. A team of sculptors will transform the snow into a Rapunzel-themed sculpture that will be completed by Saturday morning and available for photo opportunities while weather permits.
Guests can also enjoy fun family activities on Saturday, including face painting, caricatures, a showing of the movie Frozen on the Center’s outdoor screen in Market Square, special appearances by Frozen princesses, and more. Retailers and restaurants are participating as well, with the following released specials – stay tuned for more as they are announced!
• Enjoy an exclusive three-course Winter Fest pre-fix menu at Café Hollander throughout the weekend.
• Try samples of blueberry & maple coffee at L.L. Bean or enjoy apple cider mimosas, sweets and exclusive savings at Kendra Scott on Saturday!
