A little bit about the Andrus Family:

The Andrus family, Adam and Christine, and their five children: Briella (8), Makayla (6), Gideon (4), Talia (2), and Shayla (7 weeks), live in Oconomowoc. Both Adam and Christine are originally from Oconomowoc.  While they both went to Oconomowoc High School, they were not exactly high school sweethearts. Adam was already in college when they began dating, while Christine was still in high school. They married when Christine was 19 years old. They lived briefly in La Crosse, while Adam was attending college there. As soon as he graduated, they moved back to Oconomowoc to continue their life together here.

Christine was originally a part time hair stylist until they started a family. She now is a Norwex Consultant, which allows her to stay home and care for her children while financially supporting her family. Adam works at Bruno Independent Living Aids, Inc., which is his grandparents’ company.  His mom’s dad started the company over 30 years ago, and it has grown to have over 300 employees. Both Adam and Christine are amazed and blessed to be a part of this family legacy.

When asked what they enjoy doing as a family. Christine reported that they love going on walks around their neighborhood together. They also like to go to local parks. A fun routine of theirs is to take a walk around Fowler Lake, and then play at Fowler Park. They also enjoy Ski Slide Park and Imagination Station in Oconomowoc. The Andrus family is also very connected to their local church, Whitestone Community Church, where Adam’s brother is the student ministry pastor.

When they get the rare date night, Adam and Christine like to head out to the movies and snag the Tuesday $5 movie deal. They have a lot of extended family in the area, so babysitters are not too hard to find 😉 When they have the occasional out of town guest, they like to take them out to Rosati’s in town, but also enjoy entertaining in their home. Christine does like to get out some nights with her mom and sisters for a drink at Splash in downtown Oconomowoc. It’s a great atmosphere for a drink, a beautiful view, and great conversation.

What they love about Lake Country Family Fun:

Christine reports that she has been following Lake Country Family Fun for the past four years. Her older sister told her about it, and she has been a loyal fan since. She loves that she can check one place and get all the information she needs. Christine checks our Fourth of July guide for fireworks and parades, the weekend guide, the calendar, and the pumpkin farm guide as well as other guides found on the site.

Christine heard of Hartland Kids Day and Oconomowoc Kids Fest through the Lake Country Family Fun. They put these events on their calendar every year and attend when able. Also, the Andrus kids LOVE parades. In fact, this past summer, they were able to attend both the Oconomowoc and Watertown parades, because they were on separate days. Christine appreciated having all the area festivities in one place, so she could plan with her family to attend both events.

A fun fact about the Andrus Family:

Christine reports that a fun fact about their family is that they have a large extended family that all lives in the Oconomowoc/Ixonia area. Christine’s dad is one of nine siblings, while Adam’s mom is one of seven. Christine has two sisters, while Adam has two brothers and a sister. Adam’s younger brother was adopted from the Ukraine when Adam was in college. Adam and Christine’s children have six cousins on Adam’s side and soon to be four cousins on Christine’s side, all of which are between the ages of nine and newborn. With five children of their own, there is no shortage of cousins and friends to play with. They are a very close-knit family, which makes the holidays extra fun. Not only do they mostly all reside in the same city, but Christine’s in-laws,  her parents, and her aunt all live on same road just outside of Oconomowoc.

Another fun fact is that they have acquired a taste for road-tripping in the past few years. They have recently gone to Kentucky and to California. Their trip to California was over 100 hours in the car. They were able to also see beautiful views of Colorado, the Grand Canyon, the Badlands, and Mount Rushmore. They are planning to go to Kentucky again soon to visit the Ark Encounter. Christine relays that these are amazing memories for her family and children to have together. The trips keep their family close, as they practice getting along in the car for such extended periods of time.

Favorite Movie to watch together as a Family:

The Andrus family watches Disney movies, such as Frozen, together most often. Although, Christine relays that as a whole, they do not watch much TV, but they do enjoy watching some movies and Veggie Tales together. Their favorite non-animated movie to watch together is “We bought a Zoo”.
